Guild Master Maxwell
The Guild Master is in charge of all Heptite Guild operations and is the highest ranking guild member. This character is an NPC and is available only occasionally.
Singers
Crystal Cutter, or Singer, is one of the most glamorous careers currently available in the Heptite Guild. Competent singers are also among the richest, as well, altough they do pay the most in fees and charges of all the members, and are subject to daily injury and resonance stress. Singers also deal with long hours in their airsleds searching for viable crystal sites, and flying an airsled is not always easy. Every recruit who is bucking for singerhood spends many hours in the airsled simulators gaining skills that could well save their lives should a mach storm suddenly appear. Singers also have the greatest initial expense for their equipment, as they must purchase an airsled and a crystal cutter, which usually leaves them with a negative credit balance until they've found and cut enough good crystal to pay off the initial debt.
Crystal Sorters
Crystal Sorters take cartons of crystal from the ranges and group it into salable collections. This can be easy or difficult, depending on the size of the cut presented, and the amount of variation within the cut. Cuts with many flawed crystals, and with many different sizes and shapes are more of a challenge to sort through. Luckily they have a computer table to help them evaluate the groups they choose, so this does elimiate some of the guess work. Experienced sorters have a number of clever tricks they can use to increase the value of a cut, such as selecting a different key on the computer than the crystal were originally cut with. Sorters have a table with pre-selected cuts, so a new sorter or an interested recruit can learn the ropes before having to face an arrogant singer fresh from the ranges.
Sled Technicians
Sledtechs are responsible for everything dealing with airsleds, except for flying them. They allocate sleds to new singers and other qualified guildmembers, repair damaged sleds, and maintain sleds and the sled simulators. They also lead resque teams into the ranges to recover singers who have crashed their sleds, as well as the occasional careless recruit.
Cutter Technicians
Cutter Technicians build, repair, and clean the sonic crystal cutter. They also do some custom engraving. Cutters do get worn out and technicians are available to repair or replace them, as needed. Cuttertechs also install temporary grips for those singers unlucky, or clumsy, enough to have sliced off some of their own fingers.
Marketing
The marketing group are responsible for filling special orders of crystal. Their office contains a computer listing all waiting orders, which singers can select from to fill from any claims they may currently have.
Crystal Tuners
Crystal Tuners are available to recut flawed and mismatched crystals either from off-planet, or from fresh raw crystal cuttings. Singers and sorters both can send cartons to Tuning with or without instructions.
Medical
The Infirmary on the lowest level of the JPF Facility is known to every member of the Heptite Guild. Most spend several days to weeks in the New Arrivals area during their adaptation illness and recovery. Those who make complete adaptations become crystal cutters, or Singers. Singers, in turn, are the highest percentage of all patients the medics care for due to the high-risk nature of the ranges. Medics are responsible for the proper care of new recruits, all current Heptite Guild Members, and inactive members in the Long Term Care facility. They also make trips to the ranges on resque missions, and occasional trips off planet to care for singers.
Legal Services
The Heptite Guild Legal Services is involved primarily in contract negotiations with offworld purchasers. They also write contracts for offworld assignments for the Tuners and Research & Development crews.

This department explores and develops new ways of using Ballybran crystal.
