The Chrysalis Goddess
This wonderful figure with folded arms and the body of a chrysalis was buried in a hypogeum or underground burial chamber in Sardinia. Adopting the stiff pose of death, she also represents the coming rebirth of the butterfly. Made about 3500 BCE, this "stiff white lady" is similar to figures created by many Stone Age cultures around the Mediterranean. Measures 4.75 inches tall. Prices: |
