The Galgenberg Dancer
Discovered in Austria in 1988, this figure is one of the oldest and most remarkable works of art from the Ice Age. Carved from brittle serpentine in about 30,000 BCE,, the little dancing goddess required great skill to create. With her knee bent, and her arm raised and folded at the elbow, she stands in a dance gesture that is still used in symbolic folk dances in parts of Africa. Measures 5.25 inches tall. Prices: |
